SofT FeetS
We often find our feet callous and cracked, dried out. A foot scrub is what our feet need so that the dead skin layer can be removed and the new one can emerge. Facial exfoliants and body scrubs have the same effect. They should be applied after you have taken a shower or have soaked your feet in a homemade foot soak. This way the skin is softened and easier to scrub off.
Foot scrub is also a good way to treat the bothersome foot corn that appears on the hairless parts of the foot. foot scrub Homemade foot scrub recipes come with different ingredients. Each has to have an exfoliating agent: sea salt, brown sugar, Epsom salt, oatmeal.
Each one also has to have a relaxing and soothing ingredient that calms the skin down and prevents any possible irritations.
Some are more elaborate, beach sand foot scrub for example, a scrub that has become very popular in recent years, but they all do the same thing.
Same as in the brown sugar body scrub, brown sugar helps slough off the dead skin cells.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons ground oats
2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 teaspoon almond oil (in case you don't have almond oil, use olive oil, it is a great substitute).
Preparation
  • Before you start preparing this scrub, grind the oatmeal using a coffee grinder or food processor. It has to be of sandy consistency, flaky and light otherwise it will scratch the skin.
  • Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Mix until it resembles a paste
  • Use circular motion and massage gently.
  • Rinse off with warm water.
Salt foot scrubIngredients
  • 1 cup of sea salt or Epsom salt
  • 1/2 cup of cold water
  • 2 drops of lavender essential oil
Preparation
  • Start off by gradually adding water to salt and lavender oil
  • As you are adding it, you want to make sure the mix starts looking like a paste. It has to be not too liquid and not too solid, it should be like soft though otherwise it will run between your fingers
  • Rub your feet and soles in circular motion
  • Rinse off with warm water
Homemade Strawberry foot scrub

  • 2 tablespoons Apricot oil (you may substitute with olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon of coarse salt, such as Kosher salt, or Sea Salt

  • Mix all ingredients into a paste, massage into feet, rinse and pat dry
Note
This foot scrub is a great introduction to application of homemade foot cream or a store bought one for that purpose. Here is a recipe to a wonderful overnight foot masque.

OVERNIGHT FOOT MASQUE

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup almonds
  • 1/4 dry oatmeal
  • 3 tablespoons food grade cocoa butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey
Preparation
  • Process almonds in a blender or coffee grinder until finely ground
  • Set aside
  • In the same blender, pulse your oatmeal until the same consistency
  • In a bowl, combine ground oatmeal, cocoa butter, honey, and ground almonds
  • Rub into your clean feet, step into cotton socks, and leave on overnight
  • The next morning, remove the socks and rinse feet in cool water
  • Pat dry
  • We recommend you not remove the socks until you're standing in the tub
Note
Let me tell you why this masque is so good. Almonds and oatmeal act as exfoliators, gentle on the skin, yet powerful to remove the dead skin. Oatmeal is hypoallergenic at the same time. Cocoa butter moisturizes and nourishes the skin, while honey adds an antibacterial touch to the whole mix. Great recipe!
A friend told me about this foot care tip:
Use a regular foot cream or any greasy cream. Apply on your feet and wrap up in foil. Leave the foil on for a couple of hours. After you remove it, the best thing to do is foot massage after which you wipe off the excess cream.
